Intro to Chironomid Fishing Course – Michael & Young Fly Shop Saturday, March 24

We are excited to announce two “Intro to Chironomid Fishing” courses at both of Micheal & Young Fly Shop’s locations (Surrey & Vancouver) on Saturday, March 24th.

Chironomid fishing is an incredibly productive form of Stillwater fly fishing, but it can be an intimidating game at first.  Micro adjustments in your setup and presentation can be the difference between grinding it out and having the best day of your life on our interior stillwaters.

Though they are small, chironomids make up a huge part of a trout’s diet through the open water season.  This course is a 3 hour indoor presentation that will cover the following:

  • Life cycle of a chironomid

  • Proper leader setup

  • How to effectively fish chironomids on a consistent basis

  • Lake structure

  • Proper boat setup

  • Knowing when and why to fish different chironomid patterns and techniques

  • Locating a chironomid emergence

  • Small tips and tricks that can make or break your day

  • How to tie a properly tapered chironomid imitation

The first course will run from 10am – 1pm at Michael & Young’s Surrey location, the second course will run from 2:30 – 5:30pm at Michael & Young’s Vancouver location.  Both courses are taking place on Saturday, March 24th.

This course is $45+GST per person, to reserve a spot contact Michael & Young Fly Shop at 604-588-2833 (Surrey) or 604-639-2278 (Vancouver).  To send us an email for more information on this course click here!
