Since 2010, I had fished with the same Humminbird Fishin’ Buddy 120 fish finder. Though I had paid a bit of attention to new sounders on the market, I figured it was futile as all I would ever need is the depth and temperature my current sounder delivered.
It hasn’t been in my possession for long, but the Helix has definitely improved our Stillwater success drastically this spring. The first thing I noticed is the sheer number of marking fish, the distinction in fish vs. debris, and the incredible precision when marking ledges, drop-offs and structure.
I wish I could say I have had time to mess around with the side scan, GPS plotting, and the other million cool features available on the Helix, but the fishing has been too good as of late!
More thoughts on this sounder will be up as time progresses, but the first impression has been a great one.
